Nettbuss
Nettbuss is one of the largest bus companies in the Nordic region, with operations in Norway and Sweden. They have been operating at Oslo Lufthavn (OSL) since the airport opened in 1998. They are responsible for transportation of passengers and crew between terminal and aircraft along with other transportation needs at the airport.
Needs
There are strict requirements for coordination of transport at airports, so that passengers don’t have to wait for transport and avoid flight delays. Nettbuss needed to utilize the capacity so they could have a better overview of arrival and departure times, delays and amount of passengers. This is important so that right type of bus is used to pick up passenger at the right time.
Solution
Datek was assigned the task of developing a fleet management system that would improve efficiency and secure quality for the bus operation at Oslo Lufthavn. The solution that was developed consists of a management interface, a central application with operator interface for distributing assignment and mobile terminals in each bus.
The drivers receive their assignments on these terminals and get updates continuously in real time.
Result
The system has given Nettbuss a complete overview of all operations which has led to increased efficiency for both operators and drivers. Delays has been reduced, and when they occur the system provides better documentation towards the Airport (OSL) to avoid unnecessary fines.
